Learn History Through Music Parodies

While I have training in history, I never practiced it as a profession. For most people history is boring.

But this video combines several of my personal interests—history, music and musical parodies. I plan to embed one every Sunday until they are all gone. It will take away as there are many. Enjoy.

Isn't It Ironic?

I remember this song. I also remember the critiques of this song that insisted most of the examples in the lyrics are not ironic.

But isn't it ironic that the current speculation about the Federal Reserve stopping or reducing Quantitative Easing (or as we hard money types call it, money printing) is causing distress, rejoicing, fear, and loathing in Washington. I guess my own perspective is a combination of rejoicing and fear.

One wag even suggested that the Federal Reserve will have bought up all the marketable bonds by 2016. (I assume that this is all bonds not owned by various governments...the Japanese and the Chinese mainly...or government agencies.) This is exactly what I expect to happen. I also expect that all these bonds will be repudiated. The power of having a reserve currency is immense.

Isn't it ironic, don't ya think, that the US may actually get away with this?

Malashock Dance - 25th Season Celebration Concert

This is quite a bit different than my usual musical offerings, but I actually found it interesting. It helped that I know the choreographer personally, as we went to high school together. Probably going to various dance competitions with my daughter changed my perspective. I really do not know enough to know if something is good or not, but I do know what I like, and this I like. It is full of life.

Sex Crimes

One of my favorite groups was the Eurythmics. I especially like their videos. Back when they were popular I did not notice the various messages of many of their songs. Back then I did not watch many videos. In the videos it is more obvious, and the political content of their second tier songs was why they were not played much on the radio. Here is one video which uses clips from the movie 1984. (Yes, this is a reminder that the fabulous editor of the prophecy podcast is doing a series on her blog about 1984. Pam Dewey is on part 3. Here is a link to part 1 if you have not started the series yet.)
